Hello, From the Other Side

Late in 2015, I packed up my life in Sydney and took one of the longest flights I've ever been on to London.
I am now on the other side of the world. 26 hours away in distance and 11 hours away in time from the place I've called home for 13 years. That's a lot of numbers.

Exchange has always been something I've wanted to do. Since applying early in 2015 the U.K has been the only thing on my mind. Knowing that in x amount of months I'd be away from my comfortable life put me in a strange mindset for most of 2015. I didn't want to set down any roots because they'd only get torn up at the end of the year. Life has the strangest ways of working, the more you don't want something to happen the more it seems to push you towards it.

I'm now a proud student of Lancaster University. We're going into our third week of class, I've formed a nice little routine, much quicker than I thought I would.

I'm excited and nervous for the year ahead. There are so many unknowns. How will I spend my summer? What will I eat tomorrow? Where am I going to live in the next academic year? How will these people I've met in these three weeks change my life?

As corny as it sounds, maybe 2016 will help me refocus my life... maybe I'll even find myself.

Whatever happens, I'll get through it bit by bit.
